The risk

Phones hold more company data than most people realise: email, shared files, contacts and the app that approves their sign-ins. A lost phone with no passcode, or a personal phone with company data and nothing separating the two, is an easy way for that data to leak.

Phones are also a growing target for phishing, through text messages, messaging apps and QR codes as well as email.

What it does
  • Enrol company-owned and personal phones and tablets, on iOS and Android
  • Keep work and personal separate on staff-owned devices, using Android work profiles and iOS User Enrolment
  • Send company email, Wi-Fi settings and apps (including Microsoft 365 apps) to devices
  • Set security rules such as passcodes, and see which devices don't meet them
  • Lock or wipe a lost device remotely, or remove only the company data from a personal one
  • Protection against malicious apps, phishing links and dangerous websites on the device itself
Who it's for

Any business whose staff read work email or files on a phone or tablet, and especially one that lets people use their own. Phones and tablets that access company data are in scope for Cyber Essentials.

How we supply it

By default we supply the licence and you (or your IT provider) deploy it. If you'd rather hand the whole job to us, we can configure and install it for you at our standard day rate — scoped and agreed with you up front, and invoiced separately.

Questions
No. On a personal phone set up with an Android work profile or iOS User Enrolment, the company manages only the work side: work apps, email and settings. Personal apps, photos and messages stay private, and removing the phone takes only the company data with it.
Report it and it can be locked or wiped remotely. For a personal phone, you can remove just the company data and leave the rest alone.
Microsoft 365 has some app protection of its own, and for some small businesses that's a sensible start. Mobile management adds control over the whole device, one view across company and personal phones, and threat protection on the phone itself. We can talk through whether you need it.
